The New Gmail App for iPhone 4S
By ivan244
The iPhone 4S is all geared up to be launched in the next few weeks and it looks as though that Google is making a few preparations of its own. Google has recently rolled out a few improvements to hit Gmail mobile app, which if anything looks like an attempt to convince people that it is much better than the native app. The iPhone 4S web app got a recent update, which brings multiple sign-in options to the app as well as vacation auto responder, mobile signature etc.
Google posted a few details about their latest update on their blog:
Sign in to more than one account
Similar to what you have on the desktop you are now able to sign in more than one account at the same time. In order to sign in additional account you just need to click the ‘account switcher’ button that is located at the bottom of the thread and then click on the “sign into another account” tap. Essentially this should allow people to easily switch between their accounts by easily choosing the account they want to check from the menu. In order to support its new multiple-sign-in feature they have also updated their current URL so that you are able to bookmark each account.
A signature for your cell phone
We are all very well aware of the autocorrect as well as other spell checks which quite frankly are less helpful and more annoying as you are trying to type as you move. You need to make sure that your friends know you are responding via your cell phone so that they understand the reason you have to message them i.e. it could be to inform them about a meeting. The signature helps makes the person getting your message understand why you may have sent the message despite the typos. In order to make a signature you just need to tap on the menu and then tap view and then tap on the settings tab, you then choose your signature and tap to tick the box which says that you have chosen to activate this option. If you want to cancel your mobile signature, you can then go ahead and uncheck this box and your signature will be dropped.
Auto-Responder
Probably every time it seems you need to go out you forget to set your auto responder to reply to your email, this can happen especially when you are going for a trip. Now thanks to the update that Google has made to its Gmail app you can set the auto responder by simply taping on start and then the end date and then specify your exact message similar to what you do on your desktop.
You can check out other new features introduced by Google for the iPhone 4S by visiting their blog. We also urge everyone to use Google’s two step verification method in order to keep their identities safe from prying eyes.

Nice! This, and a better text entry method (like Swype), were the 2 reason I've been on Android for the last 2 years (I used an iPhone before then). Is the app a true email app that you can use offline, or does it just provide a beautified way to access it via the Web? (i.e. you need a live connection to the Internet to review and act on your email)
